10.30am for 10.45am
This walk will be led by Ben Waddington, Director of ‘Still Walking Festival’. Ben digs really deeply to provide fascinating insights into the past on the walks he organizes. This walk charts a meandering course through the backwaters, coves and inlets of ‘Birmingham on Sea’ sifting through the flotsam and jetsam of the city's various nautical connections.
Our famously land-locked city has never-the-less, celebrated aquatic legends of ancient and modern history, formed nautical clubs, sailed single-handedly around the world, and created precision maritime instruments celebrated. Ben will explain, the use of the anchor by the assay office, and a Mermaid by the University. After discovering our Birmingham sea legs we wash up at the Anchor Inn Digbeth, where we can splice the mainbrace…... or at least enjoy a pub lunch.
We meet at 10.30am for a 10.45 start and we will finish by about 12.30 at the Anchor Inn for lunch (not included).
Cost: £12.00 for TASBE members £14 for non members.
