Joseph Hudson, a farm worker from Derbyshire moved to the city of Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution and trained as a toolmaker. Amongst his early products were snuff boxes, corkscrews and .... whistles.
The story of J Hudson & Co (Whistles) Ltd is a fascinating one for, over the next 135 years, under its trading name of Acme, it developed and patented over 40 different whistle designs to make the company a world leader.

Meet at 10.25 am for a 10.30 am start at J Hudson & Co Whistles Ltd at 244 Barr Street, Birmingham B19 3AH. Please note that parking is particularly tight in this area.
