Guided Walk around Bournville with Ian Jelf

Tuesday 27th July 2021 at 6.00pm

Due to the popularity of our first event, we have now arranged a second on Tuesday 27th July. Booking form below, we look forward to seeing you there!

For those of you who don’t know Ian Jelf, he is a registered tourist guide for London, the Heart of England and the South-West and is extremely knowledgeable and interesting about the places he guides people through.

The development of Bournville is probably familiar to all of you but a reminder just in case:

In 1879 the Cadbury Brothers moved their famous chocolate factory from central Birmingham to what was then the Worcestershire countryside. Around it, they subsequently built a village of social housing both for their workers and for others, where people could live in clean, light, spacious and airy conditions, christening this new development "Bournville". Today, the village, managed by an independent charitable trust, still fulfils that role and is still visited by housing experts from around the world.

Come and find out more about this beautiful social experiment - and why it’s definitely not all about chocolate! If it’s of interest to you, register early to avoid disappointment!
