BITE SIZE BRUM is The Art Society - Birmingham Evening's local interest, social programme.

Through Bite Size we explore a great variety of aspects of our City, and the areas surrounding it, with like-minded Arts Society members.

We have previously visited such diverse places as: The Coffin Works, Shakespeare Inn, Pen Museum, Acme Whistles, Soho House, Two Towers Brewery, and The Cadbury Research Library. Taste and Tour evenings at the Barton Arms have been particularly well attended.

More recently we have visited Wightwick Manor, Walsall Art Gallery, and Birmingham’s own Museums Store.

We have had some very interesting ‘Meet the Artist’ events at the RSBA Gallery where Viv Astling sculptor, Rob Perry painter, Michele White jewellery designer, and the PRISM textile artists have generously shared their ideas and techniques with us.

Walking is a great way to learn about our surroundings. We have had some fascinating walks with Blue Badge guide Ian Jelf, including one on Birmingham’s green men, (in architectural terracotta), and with Canal enthusiast Roger Butler. When appropriate we finish our walk with a social meal at a local pub or restaurant.

Thank you for the suggestions for visits you have given us. Please keep sharing your ideas with us, and special places you have discovered. They are always welcome and will always be included in our list of opportunities for the future.

Numbers at some of our Bite Size events are restricted and so it is recommended that you book early to best ensure a place. Keep an eye out on the Bite Size table at lectures, where early booking fliers will be available for members. Non-members are welcome to events, subject to availability, for a small additional charge.
