Works of art, watches and cars - three of Bonhams' Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers share their experiences. There will be a chance to talk to the experts before the lecture (from 6.00 - 7.00 pm)
Gerry Berwyn-Jones , Senior Valuer – Works of Art and Sculpture
Gerry has over 20 years experience as a general valuer in the auction industry with a particular interest in clocks and works of art and held responsibility for specialist Chess sales. Recent highlights of lots consigned from local vendors include two 18th century Chinese vases which realised hammer prices of £570,000 and £350,000.
Gerry will be speaking about market trends and highlights for works of art and sculpture.
Jonathan Darracott, Global Head of Watches
Jonathan has over 25 years' experience working with watches both as an auctioneer and as a watch manufacturer.
As Bonhams Global Head of Watches, Jonathan has been responsible for the sale of one of the world's largest private single-owner collections of watches, with the 2,000-strong Collection of a European Nobleman. Jonathan's life-long passion for watches started in childhood. He has a BA Honours degree in Three Dimensional Design and also studied watch-making in London and Switzerland. He is a qualified member of the British Horological Institute and a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
Jonathan will be speaking about market trends and highlights for watches.
James Knight, International Managing Director, Motor Cars
James Knight is an Executive Board Director of Bonhams and Chairman of the Motoring Department, having specialised in the subject since 1984. As one of the longest serving specialists in the industry, he has handled record-breaking auctions of both Collections and individual motor cars. James also acts as an adviser to a number of institutions, which include manufacturers, trusts and museums. Is an accomplished auctioneer and nominated 'Auctioneer of the Year' for the British Antiques and Collectors Association. Holds membership to a multitude of motoring Clubs and owns a 1954 Austin-Healey 100. James will be speaking about a very rare and special Bugatti that belonged a recluse…….
